
Marcello Algeri
Marcello Algeri is an Italian-born dancer, choreographer, and ballet master with a significant international career. He started his career in France and danced at renowned companies such as Monte Carlo Ballet, Ballet Royal de Wallonie, Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Ballet Sankt Gallen, and Croatian National Ballet. He starred in classical ballets, including Romeo and Juliet, Carmen, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Coppélia, Cinderella, Don Quixote, and Giselle.
As a choreographer, he has created more than 60 pieces that embrace the genres of classical, neoclassical, and contemporary ballet. In his work, he often combines classic techniques with contemporary forms of movements, especially focusing on the Laban „Liquid” style. His choreographies include works such as Pulcinella, Ecce Homo, Lys Mykyta, and Rock & Juliet, which was set to Queen’s music.
Algeri has worked as the artistic director and choreographer of many companies, including the Ariston Proballet (Sanremo, Italy), the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Lviv (Ukraine), and the Theatre BALLET OF SIBIU (Romania). He also worked as a guest choreographer in the United States, for example with the Joseph Albano Connecticut Ballet.
He studied at prestigious institutions including the Accademia del Balletto Ambrosiano in Milan, the Accademia di Danza Princesse Grace in Monte Carlo, and the Centre International de Danse Rosella Hightower in France. He also graduated in dance, choreography, and physical education.
His artistic work has been recognized with numerous international awards, including the G.R.A. Award in Kiev (2019), for the choreography of Ecce Homo in Moscow, and for the opera ballet Lys Mykyta in Ukraine (2021).
Marcello Algeri is currently active in the international dance scene as a choreographer, teacher, and artistic director.
